PromPerú reports participation of national delegation in the “China Fisheries & Seafood Expo,” the most important fishing trade event in Asia
PromPerú reported that a national delegation participated in the “China Fisheries & Seafood Expo,” the most important fishing trade event in the Asian continent.
A delegation consisting of 19 Peruvian companies participated in the “China Fisheries & Seafood Expo (CFSE).” This event, considered the most relevant in the fishing sector in Asia, returned in its in-person format after being suspended for three years due to the pandemic, according to the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PromPerú).
The fair is organized by Sea Fare Expositions and takes place in the city of Qingdao, where a significant part of the processing of fishery products sourced from Peru occurs.
According to PromPerú, thanks to their participation, the 19 companies secured commercial commitments worth US$ 93 million. “Of the total amount reached, US$ 5 million were finalized during this commercial activity, and US$ 88 million will materialize in the next twelve months,” detailed the entity in a press release.
The CFSE fair gathers over 30,000 professionals from more than 88 different countries each year. This year, 1,680 exhibiting companies from 51 countries participated. The Peruvian stand, where the agreements were finalized, received visits from entrepreneurs from China, Japan, South Korea, among other countries, according to PromPerú.
Boosting Squid Sales PromPerú also reported that the Peruvian delegation was made up of 10 companies from Lima, along with eight from Piura and one from Ica. Of the entire group, four attended the event for the first time.
Prior to the CFSE, the entity launched a campaign for squid-based products in Beijing in October alongside the importer Havesea. “This involved selling squid snacks produced by this company, using packaging that highlights the Peruvian origin of the input through the use of the Peru brand and Super Foods Peru,” they detailed.
During the China Fisheries fair, Havesea launched the online sales platform Linking Fish for squid products, organizing a promotional event that brought together over 100 representatives from the sector.
Currently, two Peruvian companies, Fernández and Global Top, have joined the project as strategic partners, and their products are already available for sale on the Linking Fish platform. During the event, as well as at the Brigh Radiance Hotel in the city of Yantai, squid snacks were also promoted.
In the context of the CFSE, nine companies from the Peruvian delegation visited the cities of Zhoushan and Shenjiamen. Both locations are known for being important ports and logistics centers, as well as production centers that host buyers and importers of squid and calamari, PromPerú assured.
